Open House for the Mothers' Center of Greater Toledo
Thursday, September 9th, 2010 9:45 -11:15am McCord Road Christian Church 4765 N.McCord Road, Sylvania OH The Mothers' Center of Greater Toledo is a non-profit organization established in 1984 by mothers, for mothers and their families. The group provides a multitude of opportunities to make friends, learn about varied topics and support each other and our community. Weekly meetings with speakers and/or discussion on scheduled topics are held at McCord Road Christian Church every Thursday morning. Safe reliable childcare is provided at each of these meetings. The group also organizes playgroups, book groups, evening coffee talks, and many other social events for its members and their families. Information about these events will be presented at the open house as well as a visit from local children's author Jan Wahl, face painting, balloon artistry and more. Toledo Mothers of Twins Club
The Toledo Mothers of Twins Club will meet on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the Croxton Auditorium at the Toledo Hospital. TMOTC meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month September through June and is a support group for mothers, foster mothers and guardians of multiple births. VFW post 9656 is hosting a chicken dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. At 4120 Piehl Road in Lambertville Michigan. The dinner includes chicken potatoes cole slaw and baked beans all this for a donation of 6 dollars.

The Findlay/Toledo walk will take place Saturday, September 11 at Riverside Park, Waterfall Pavilion 231 McManness Ave. in Findlay. The Church of St. Andrew's youth group is hosting a "Pets in Poverty" event to benifit the Humane Ohio Pet Food Bank from 12pm to 4pm at The Church of St. Andrew, 3260 Heatherdowns, Toledo, Ohio. Pets are welcome and will feature a pet blessing, a pet food drive, pet related vendor booths, food, music, and "Pets in Poverty" t-shirt sales.

Yoga Gathering
On Sunday, September 19th, individuals from all over the Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan area will be joining together in a very special YOGA GATHERING. This gathering will be our 2nd annual attempt to set a record for the most individuals gathered at one time doing yoga. The cost to participate is $15 for class admission (only) OR $30 for class admission, a yoga mat and a T-shirt. Proceeds go to support the Victory Center, Cherished Friends of Ahava, and Cancer Connection of Northwest Ohio, Inc., all nonprofits who offer help and support to cancer patients.

The Adrian Amateur Radio Club's Annual Swap Meet
The Adrian Amateur Radio Club is hosting its annual electronics swap meet from 8 AM to 1 PM Sunday,September 19, 2010 at the Lenawee County Fair Grounds, 602 N. Dean St., Adrian, MI. Consumer electronics, amateur radio equipment and other merchandise will be available for purchase. Licensing exam sessions will be conducted by Kevin Brooks, and his team of Volunteer Examiners. PROMEDICA OFFERS FREE EDUCATIONAL EVENT – Obesity, Diabetes and Metabolism: Weighing the Evidence
ProMedica Health System will present a community education event on September 23rd at the Toledo Hospital Education Center Auditorium with a panel of experts on the topics of obesity, diabetes and metabolism, including information about bariatric surgery, sports medicine and other treatment options. The race will start on the corner of Monroe St. and Submit St. The day will include opening ceremonies, a NEW pink parade for breast cancer survivors, 5K timed competitive run, 5K non-competitive run/walk, and Fun Walk. Passionately Pink for the Cure®! It’s a great way to fight breast cancer. All you need to do is wear pink and have fun on Tuesday, October 12th and help support the life-saving work of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® by making a donation. Together, we can help fund critical breast cancer research, as well as local education, screening and treatment programs that impact people in our community. We will go Passionately Pink by hosting a fundraiser at Tremainsville Hall with vendors from Toledo. Bay Park Community Hospital is Providing Free Vascular Screenings
Bay Park Community Hospital is providing free vascular screenings from 1 until 4pm. These free screening will be offered the second Monday of every month. In order to qualify you need to be over the age of 65, or over age 50 if they have a history of one or more of the following risk factors: diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking, or family history of vascular disease.
